Venus of Cupertino iPad Docking Station by Scott Eaton.

The Venus of Cupertino by Scott Eaton is a sculptural docking station inspired by the curvaceous forms and symbolism of ancient Venus figurines such as the Venus of Willendorf. She is a fertility goddess for the technology age.

Each Venus is hand-cast in museum-quality resin and available in a gloss white or matte white finish, she is a fully functional iPad docking station. Her hands gently guide any second or third generation iPad onto a charger inconspicuously located in her midriff.

A USB cable emerges from a number of points under the sculpture and fits any standard USB port or Apple power adapter for syncing or charging. The charging cable and connector are fully changeable in order to future-proof the docking station against updates to Apple’s iPad connectors.

The glossy version:

At the moment, she is only available in white (pre-order), but at the London Design Shown, she appeared in various colors:

Introducing STRUT Launchport Luxury iPad Cases With Wireless Charging Pedestals.

STRUT, the world leader in automotive fashion products, has teamed with its sister company Launchport, the leader in iPad wireless charging systems, to create the STRUT Launchport.

The newly established STRUT LaunchPort line includes iPad protective cases in designer and custom finishes (all shown in this post). These hand-crafted cases turn iPads into distinctive, personal luxury style statements.

The Cases
The elegant new iPad cases mate with wireless pedestals that charge the iPad whenever it is docked. True to STRUT’s luxury automotive heritage, the charging pedestals are hand-crafted from jewelry grade stainless steel and are triple chrome-plated.

Blending customization and technological innovation, the new cases attach to the pedestal using strong neodymium magnets that provide a secure mounting solution, even if accidentally bumped or knocked. The LaunchPort inductive charging system begins charging the iPad as soon as the sleeve is docked, eliminating the need for external cables.

The Five Standard Case Options

Black Carbon Fiber and White Pearl Carbon Fiber:

Each STRUT LaunchPort iPad case is precisely and skillfully crafted. The exquisite walnut burl, carbon fiber and leopard print finishes are the result of an elaborate, multi-step finishing process that produces a beautifully detailed appearance. A gloss or silk-touch finish is then applied over the base and handpolished.

Silk Touch Leopard Print and Glossy Burled Walnut:

Sparkle Pink:

The Seven Special-order Finishes

Blue Carbon Fiber and Supercar Sparkle Red:

Tangerine and Mint:

Antiqued Bronze and Rose Gold finishes:

Milled Titanium finish:

The special-order finishes require six to eight weeks for delivery.

The Pedestals
Each of the three STRUT LaunchPort is individually crafted from hand-welded, hand-polished, jewelry-grade stainless steel. Using a small-batch, triple-layer process, the sphere and base are then chromed and buffed to produce an exceptionally durable, beautiful and timeless luster.

The Matte Black and Gloss White spheres are powder-coated and baked in a kiln, resulting in a finish with classic beauty that will endure for years to come.

“This is a truly innovative accessory that blends a practical and convenient iPad charging technology with the timeless quality and elegant finishes of a luxury product,” explains James Peterson, STRUT LaunchPort Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Through the design and development of our luxury automotive grilles, wheels and accessories, we’ve gained a thorough understanding of what the luxury consumer desires. These new iPad products precisely address that demand.”

The Technology
Based on the revolutionary LaunchPort™ inductive charging technology, the STRUT LaunchPort system provides a convenient, wireless means to charge and use your iPad®.

The inductive charging circuitry transfers power from the elegant pedestal to the stylish case, charging your iPad without the need for cumbersome wires and connectors. Simply placing the iPad case on the pedestal automatically begins the charging process.

Powerful neodymium magnets secure the case to the pedestal. The spherical base rotates, tilts, and pivots to any desired angle. The iPad case utilizes an audio waveguide system to route sound from the rear-facing iPad speaker forward, producing greater volume and increasing clarity over a stand-alone iPad.

The case is easily removed for travel or remote iPad usage and a mini-USB cable is included with the system to allow easy charging of your iPad separate from the base station.

The Price and Details

The STRUT LaunchPort system, which will initially feature five standard and seven custom order case finish options as well as three pedestal finishes, will be offered at $1,250 for a complete system, which includes a pedestal, case and accessories.

Cases and pedestals can be purchased separately to create a multitude of mix-and-match combinations. The STRUT LaunchPort system is scheduled to become available for purchase in mid-September, in anticipation of the upcoming gift giving season.

A wall-mounted port (shown above) is also available using the same beautiful STRUT LaunchPort Case that pairs with the base station. The WallStation uses inductive charging and magnetic mounting technologies, ensuring that your iPad is secure and wirelessly charging.

The STRUT LaunchPort Case rotates 360 degrees in the WallStation, transforming your wall into an information center, photo gallery, video conferencing center, and anything else you can imagine.

About STRUT and LaunchPort
Launched in 2002, STRUT crafts and markets an extensive family of grilles, wheels and “jewelry” to an audience of automotive aficionados demanding elegance and individuality. Established in 2010 LaunchPort manufactures and markets wireless iPad charging technology that employs a revolutionary inductive charging system that negates the need for the need for external cables.

Multi Hip & Multifunctional: ]the MultiPot & the MultiBook

The MultiPot:
Article: MultiPot
Family: MultiPot
Year: 2005
Designer: Dante Donegani - Giovanni Lauda

This belongs to a new generation of lighting objects and is the first of the Rotaliana products to combine lighting with other functions. This hybrid, multi functional lamp combines a LED ambient light with a multi socket, along with a space to tidy cables in the lamp’s vase.

MultiPot provides new comfort levels, both in the home and at work by catering for both old and new requirements: our habit of emptying keys and other personal items, from pockets into containers, with new requirements to manage our increased use of rechargeable multimedia equipment, home computers and the transformation of televisions into home theatres. With its familiar looks, lighting function and translucent finish (to filter the light while masking the electric cables), MultiPot is a picture of elegant functionality.

And now available in Glam colors:

Article: MultiBook
Family: MultiBook
Year: 2007
Designer: Dante Donegani - Giovanni Lauda

The MultiBook:
A multifunctional lamp for use at home, on a table or desk, as a bedside lamp or while travelling … Its book shape combines different uses:
• Around 3 sides are 74 LEDs for a diffused
light;
• inside there is a 3-way multisocket and a
container for cables and transformers;
• the spine has a calendar and digital clock;
• the top cover has an illuminated label for your personal details.

With its book form and luminous performance, MultiBook is a technical object with a familiar face. It’s your personal toolkit to use in any situation: to light your desk, keep it tidy and free from the usual array of cables; to use as a clock in the bedroom, to recharge your mobile and MP3 batteries and when you travel, you can store the transformers for all your electrical equipment.

Made from plastic the MultiBook comes in 4 finishes: black, white, lacquer red and blue. The decoration is inspired by the ars illuminandi, or miniature illustrations that are found in medieval texts.

Take Charge: Affordable (and not so affordable) Charging Stations

Take Charge!

First cellphones, then digital cameras, then ipods, then rechargeable batteries, then Blackberrys. And now, the iphone.

So many things to charge. And recharge. Again and again.

It's true that many companies make 'charging stations' nowadays and more and more creative minds are coming out with ways to hide those wires, but if you've ever searched for them at Frontgate or Levengers, you'll find they they run upwards of $150.00!
Not at Kangaroom Storage where they have some options that look very expensive but are amazingly affordable.
Kangaroom Storage is the anal (and frugal) computer geek's dream.

Check out these functional and affordable products:

PHONE PDA CHARGING STATION in Navy Blue or Black ($35.00 USD):

We’re all proud of having the latest (and smallest) electronic gadgets to organize our lives. But what good are they if we can’t find them or the uncharged battery dies right in the middle of a conversation? With our Charging Station you can say good-bye to multiple chargers and their unsightly electrical cords snaking all over your desk. You can corral up to three items and neatly tuck a 10” power strip out of sight behind the sliding door. No room on your desktop for the 13" long Charging Station? You can also mount it to the wall as easily as a clock with two dry wall screws (included). The Charging Station is available in black or navy.

Dimensions: 13”L x 3.75”W x 5”H

THE 2 POD CHARGING STATION ($20.00 USD):

Let your electronics sit in the lap of luxury while charging. This sleek faux leather two pod charging station allows you the space to store and charge up to two of the following: cell phone, digital camera, mp3 player, or PDA. Unsightly cords are hidden by feeding them through bottom and out the back of the unit. Available in black, green or red, these charging stations can be a great color accent to any room and make a great gift for friends, family, and students.

Available in black, lime, or cherry. Dimensions: 6.5” x 5.125” x 4.75”

THE BLACK BOX CORD ORGANIZER ($60.00 USD):

Until electricity is wireless, tangled masses of cords will need to be hidden. Our Black Box Computer and Media Center Cord Organizer sits on the floor and keeps cords out of sight behind a sliding access door. It has two shelves to accommodate modems and adapters, room for a standard or large size surge protector (not included), nine prongs to neatly wrap excess cord, and convenient left and right side openings. Made of flame resistant black acrylic. We covered the ventilation issue by cutting 5 ventilation strips in the back, and 4 2" x 2!2" rectangular cut outs (for cord feed).

COMPUTER CORD STORAGE & ORGANIZER ($27.50):

Four bottom compartments can accommodate large transformers while the top tray holds five accessories and lots of cords. Customizable labels are included.

The way it works is that it is a double decker unit that has two zippers, one to access each level. They remain attached on one side even when it is completely unzippered. What is great about this product is that there is a separate compartment and label for each charger. The bottom level has deeper compartments and can hold up to 4 more cords or chargers for larger things like laptops, computer accessories, transformers, earphones, etc..

For tech savvy people, it is always a challenge to keep all the chargers and extra batteries straight, especially when you are talking about a family, and each kid has a range of electronic devices that all have different chargers! This is the only product of its kind on the market and I think it really addresses a big need of what to do with all those cords.

Available in black or blue nylon, or brown faux leather.
Dimensions: 13”L x 12.875”W x 3.25”D

CELL PHONE CHARGING STATION & MORE ($30.00 USD)

Cell phones and Blackberrys and iPods — oh my! — each with its own charger. Tame tangled "octopus cords" with our unique Charging Station. Individual compartments accommodate 4 devices, leaving the cords neatly tucked away beneath a removeable tray. Perfect for the multi-cell phone family or one multi-device person. Available in black or brown faux leather with blue accents. Comes with pre-printed labels or create your own.

The way it works is by laying the electronic devices in one of the four beds (of varying widths for cell phone, Blackberry, small camera, etc.) and running their charging cords through the slot to hide it. The slot opens to a wide space where the accumulation of cords can sit without having to be seen. This area is accessable as the top shelf (for keys and other small loose ends) is removable. There is also a subtle, length-wise opening for the major power connection in the back, hidden from view. So even though they'll never make all your cables the perfect length, at least now you don't have to look at the mess. Surge protector sold separately.
Dimensions: 11.5" x 6.75" x 4.25"
